I (From Our Own Correspondent,) A farewell social and dance were giyen to Mr P, Julian and family in the fial) on Monday night, when, despite the inclemency of the weather, a good number of settlers attended. Mr fiaill, as spokesman made complimentary reference to the Julian family, who have been associated with the settlement from its infancy. The sawmill team entertained the Diamonds at the Oaknra Hotel in the evening. T hear that a return match will be played at Okato. Mr Ede, manager of tho Koru mill, has completed over a mile of tramway to connect with the metalled road

Messrs Pearson and Tuck have completed the erection of their new mill on the property lately owned by Mr Mills, so there will be plenty of sawdust Hying about this coming season. There are mimoreus inquiries as to why the Oaktira Road Hoard has not held its annual meeting of ratepayers. Uirnor Ims it tint svnc "pns-vs " will be forthcoming from various quarters when tho meeting is held. The Kora road is impssable for vehicular traffic at present.
