THE LAND SCANDALS.
CHARv.tS AGAINST MR. CRICK. CONSIDERATION FURTHER DELAYED. Received 12, 12.5K a.m. Stoket, June 11. The Premier moved that the House proceed to deal with Lands Commission's findings of misconduct against Mr Crick.
The latter took his stand on May, which states that where criminal or civil proceedings are pending, a matter should not be dealt with by a House, either by motion or otherwise. The Attorney-General said there was no precedent to guide the Speaker. There was no case of a criminal trial pending when e House dealt with a report. There had been cases where members had been expelled by a vote of Parliament, and subsequently tried by direction of Parliament for a criminal offence. He admitted such action must haye created great prejudice against the person on trial. The present matter was one peculiarly for a Speaker to decide. The Speaker ruled tho metion out of order.
