MR CHAMBERLAIN'S BIRTHDAY.
CELEBRATIONS IN BIRMINGHAM. [Received 10,9.52 p m. | |Loxdox, July 10. Monday's Birmingham demonstrations chiefly recognised Mr Chamberlain'l strenuous Parliamentary activity and devotion to National and Imperial ideals. He was the reeipient of a jpreat number of congratulatory message*, including one from the Queen, also telegrams from the colonies anc hundreds from London. The Stock Exchanges sent an address. At Bingley Hall, in the evening, in the presence of an enthusiastic crowd of tea thousand people, Mr Chamberlain received over a. hundred addresseof congratulations. He delivered u rigorous speech, reviewing his political life and vindicaiing his attitude toward: the great problems of recent politics, insisting that the strengthening of th< bonds of union of the Empire was tht highest object of Statesmanship. Hi was confident the reforms he advocated would be achieved, and personally lu was satisfied with the way things were moying.
