THEATRE ROYAL, TO-NIGHT.
10-mgkt and to-morrow (Tuesday) night, at the Theatre Royal Mr Edmund Montgomery, the popular caterer for public amusement, will reappear with an entirely new assortmeut of animated pictures. Two sub-' jeets of the many to be presented pictonally arc bound to prove big attractions, both the events haying 1 00 ncd large in the public eye, tho Press accounts of the same having furnished some of the most thrilling and start ling reading for many years past. Both happenings were of the gigantic order • the appalling disasters of earthquake and fire which demolished the fair city of San Francisco, and the disas trous eruption of Mount Vesuvius Ihere are many disasters which the pen utterly fails to convey the immens.ty of, and the above two tragic events can be safely included among thorn The pictorial exhibition promised by Mr Montgomery to-mght by no means begins or ends with these two stirring subjects. Many new miscellaneous pictures of a high standard of excel lence will also be presented for the first tune. For fully f lfteeu minutes the audience s attention will be fairlv riveted with the remarkably clever and deft delinquencies of "Raffles" the amateur cracksman, a character created by that clever novelist Mr F W. Horning, recently staged at the Comedy Theatre, London, by Mr Charles Frohman (Mr Cyrlo Bellew playing the part of Baffles in America and Mr Du Maimer in London) The sporting inclined will find something exactly o their taste in a remarkably fine motion picture of a steeplechase. Tho picture-taker. ,n tliw instance were fortunate to have a machine set at the obstacle at whick there was a very bad fall, three horses turning a seven with quite startling vividness. Among several new laughter-makers may be specially mentioned " A Trin to tho Moon" or "A Drunkard's Dream which all fond of a hearty laugh should make a point of seeing The musical portion of the programme will be considerably enhanced by the appearance ol Mr W H Mont gomery, a brother of the proprietor of tke company. The former has just arrived in the colony from London For some considerable time he was the tead.ng baritone for tho D'Oyly Carte Opera Company, a famous and popular organisation at home. Mr W H Montgomery has also had several hW y engagements at the leading London theatres Seats may bo reserved at the Dresden Piano Co.
