BARRETT ROAD BOARD.

The Barrett Road Board hold its iordwary meeting on Friday. Present: Messrs A. George (Chairman), D. McAllum, B. Honeyfield, and G. C. Blanchard. The Department of Eoads wrote that the plan of the proposed extension of Gainc stroct had been forwarded for proclamation. Mr J. Elwin complained that the Board's employees had removed from his property on the corner of Outfield road and Devon street a set of steps, much to the inconvenience of his tenants. Unless these were replaced at once tho matter would bo placed in the hands of his solicitor.—Letter ordered to lie on tho table. Mr J. Randall asked the Board to intervene in the interosts of public health in tho almost unbearable conditions and menace to health existing in front of his residence in Devon street west, and caused by the drainage of two houses discharging all their dtainagc on to the roadway. The Board decided to give notice to the owner of the property lo rectify matters.

A letter was received from Mr T. H. Loan, manager of the Morshoad Nursery Company, to the effect that the creek running through the nurseries on the South road was dammed by the collapse of tho Board's tunnel under tho road. This was causing periodical floods, and besides being inconvenient, was likely to carry away the nursery stock.—The matter had been attended to by the Chairman, and the delay had been caused only by the difficulty i E securing the necessary 18-inch pipes. Messrs Standish and Kerr wrote that Mr Clifford would grant permission to divert tho Mangaotuku stream through his property in connection with the Devon road extension. (Mr J. C George, for the Mission Trust, has given similar permission). The resolution, declaring gorse, broom, ragwort, and ox-eye daisy to be noxious weeds, was confirmed.

The Chairman gave notice to move at next meeting that a rate of f of a p jnny in tho £ be struck for the year ending March 31st next.
