THE OPENING OP PARLIAMENT. BECJOBD YEAR AND SPLENDID PBOSPECTS. Received 26,2.40 p.m. Sydney, June 26. Sir Harry Rawson opened Parliament at noon. The Speech congratnlated the State on the steadily growing prosperity, the improvements of th. prospects of ail classes and the splendid position of the finances. Tin Treasury returns show an unprecedented surplus and the loan expendi ture the lowest on record. The esli mates are framed economically, whils' providing for industrial development. Referring to the late Mr Seddon'? visit, the Speech says his death watreceived with the profoundest sorrow, New South Wales sharing in th( common mourning for one whose loss not only to New Zealand, but to tli> Empire and humanity would bi greatly felt. As regards railwaj administration and the Land Commissioners' reports, Parliament woulii ' be asked to legislate in both matters jJJ? The proposal in connection with th< railways include the dissolution of tht . " present Commission and the alteration the basts whereon the Board o Management is appointed. Bill promised include Remission of Primary *, Public Schools Fees, the Developmeni ci Closer Settlement, Rabbit Destruc , Hon, State Savings and Land Bank j. Suppression of amending of .the Arbitration Act, Murray Waters, and a Pore Food Bill.
PBOPOSED VOTE OF CENSURE. Beeived 26, midnight. Sydney, June 26. The Labor party intend to move a vote of censure on the Government for the delay in dealing with the reports, of the Lands Commission and Railwa) Commission.
