MEMORIAL SERVICE IN SYDNEY.
Received 21,5,6 p.m. Sydney, June 21. Flags were half-masted at the Admiralty depot, Garden Island, and on all Public Buildings and skipping. At noon a large congregation assembled at St. Andrew's Cathedral, to pay, in unison with those taking part in tic funeral rites at Wellington, a last tribute to the late Mr Seddon. The building was draped in purple and black, and the altar was decked with white flowers, Union Jacks were suspended from the arching pillars. The service was choral. As the congregation gathered, the organist played " 1 Know That My Bedeeiuer Liveth." The opening hymn was " Brief Life is Here Our Portion." Then followed the service for the dead, impressively rv\q by the choir, concluding with the authciu " Crossing the Bar " to Woodward's music. A solemn service terminated with the singing of the hymn " Ten Thousand Times Ten Thousand," and tho organ playing the "Dead March in Saul" and Beethoven's "Funeral March." Arohdoacon Gunther officiated and was assisted by Canons Langley, Sharp and Boycc. Among those present were Lord Northoote (Governor-General), Sir Harry Bawson (State Governor), Hogue, Chief Secretary, the Lord Mayor, Capt. Stoke Bees, representing the Navy, Hon. Mr O'Sullivan, Messrs T. £'. Donne, Jackson (Union Company), Pike (Bank of New Zealand) and a large nnmber of New Zealanders.
