BIG FIRES IN AUCKLAND.

They were insured in the South British for £10,300, understood to be largely re-insured, Auckland, June 22, A destructive fire occurred in Queen street last evening when the fine threestorey building owned by Messrs Abbott, Kneebone and Tole was gutted within 20 minutes of tho outbreak. The two upper storeys were a mass of flames, and the spoctacle was watched by thousands of people. The fire brigade, police and some sailors made a plucky fight against the fire and succeeded in confining it to the two upper storeys, which were completely wrecked. AH the stock on tho ground floor was ruined by water. J. E. Self, who carries on a large mercery business, and occupied the ground floor, is insured for £3OOO in the Government and Imperial offices.
