Mr P. A. Wells, formerly of New Plymouth, and now postmaster at Whitiangi (Mercury Bay) is at present on a visit to his relatives here.
After fifty years' service in ono church, the Eev. Canon Goodman, of Geelong, has signified his intention of retiring,
The Kev. Mr Wilson, of Papanui (Ohristchurch) has been appointed Presbyterian minister at Manaia, near Hawera.
Mr S. Harcourt is on a visit to New Plymouth in connection with the issue of shares in the Taranaki Oil and Freehold Company, Ltd. Mr G. H. Barnes, the business representative of the " Fatal Wedding " Company, and known as a prince of good fellows, was in New Plymouth yesterday, making arrangements for the appearance of the company here next week. The company is doing phenomenal business in Auckland, and has the reputation of not playing to an empty seat since it landed in the colonies.
