THE RAILWAY DEVIATION.
Mr Fred. Bollringer has signalised his entry into municipal life in New Plymouth by giving notice to move at tho next meeting of tho Borough Council :
That 11 deputation from tho Council, ponsisting of His Worship the Mayor, Hon. T, Kelly, M.L.C., E. M. Smith, M.H.R., W. T. Jennings, M.H.R, and W. Symes, M.H.R., wait on the Eight Hon. R. J. Seddon, Primo Minister, and lay before him the whole question of tho jtyilway deviation, and the treatment the Council fyas receive*! from the Railway Depijrtnjejit in the matter;
That a public petition be prepared for circulation setting forth the absolute necessity of the beach route being adopted in preference to the Molesworth street route, which necessitates the loss of considerable rateable property to the Council; That the Council consider what sum of money and grants of laud it is prepared to contribute by way of iudueing the Government to adopt tho beach route."
Cr. Bollringer states his opinion that a deputation will do njirc good than whole hosts of letters on thfl subject.
