SATURDAY'S GAMES. (Special to News.) WAIMATE I. V. ELTHAM I. Win mate defeated Eltham at El--111 am on Saturday by 19 points to 3. Some good play by each team was witnessed, although it bordered on the side of roughness on several occasions. In the first spell, Pini, for Waimate, kicked a penalty goal. Tamu scored a try whioh was converted by Pini. In the second spell tries were scored for Waimate by Burke (2) and Pini, Ward adding the major points to the latter's try. For Eltham Diye kioked a penalty goal. For the visitors Ward played brilliantly, whilst Tamu and Pini played good games, For Eltham, Furrie (baok), MoOracken, Boyle and Were played splendidly in a losing game. Mr A'Court refere'ed,
PATEA I. V. OKAIAWA I. Patea seniors Okaiawa seniors atPatea by 14 points (goal and two tries and a penalty goal) to 5 points (a goal). The game was a very fast one, Okaiawa having the best of the first spell, Patea getting the mastery in the second. Roberts, the Okaiawa centre threequarter, broko his arm in two places. OPUNAKE I v. HAWERA I. This match was played at Opunake and resulted in a win for Opunake by 6 points to 3. WAIMATE B. (KAPONGA) v. HAWERA 11. Played at Hawera, a stubborn game ended indecisively, each team scoring 3 points. *| ELTHAM II v. WAIMATE A. The above teams met at Manaia, Waimate having the best of the game, and winning by 14 points to 0. OPUNAKE II v. PATEA If.
Patea declined to face the long journey to Opunake, who wero awarded the game by default. Okaiawa II had a bye.
WAIMATE 111 y. PATEA Il|. The above teams met at Patea, the local club winning by 14 points to 8. OKAIAWA 111 v. HAWERA 111. This match was played at Hawera, and resulted in a win for the visitors by 11 points to 3. Eltham 111. had a bye. There will no mutches to-day, and all fixtures will bo played on Thursday as originally arranged. THE ASSOCIATION GAME. Owing to the lateness of the reply from the New Plymouth Club, tho Eltham Association Club are unable to visit New Plymouth to-day, most of the players having made other arrangements. In addition to the Kaponga, Eltham and Hawera senior teams, the above clubs aro now putting four junior teams in the field. At a [meeting of delegates hold at Eltham on Saturday, it was decided to write to the Union asking for particulars as to the representative matches, and advocating that Bouth Taranaki receive favorable consideration when the grounds are decided upon, as such matches would do much towards popularising the game. Mr E. Parrott of Eltham has been appointed selector for the South team.
