UNITY TENT 1.0.R.. NEW PLYMOUTH.

On Tuesday, May 29th, the above Tent received an official visit from the District Deputy Ruler, Bro. Caldor, and advantage was taken of this visit to try and enthuse the members and sympathisers by holdiug a public gathering. Accompanying Bro, OalJe ■ was Bro. W. H.' Jackson,of Wangaaui. These two brethren during their stay in the town pushed the claims of the Order in such a manner that much good is bound to follow. In the public meeting they spoke very encouragingly of the work and growth of the Order, particular interest being taken in the account of Bro. Jackson's Indian experiences. A very pleasing programme of musical items, etc., was rendered by local talent, and very much appreciated by the audience. The Secretary, P.D.O.R Bro. Whitaker, gave a brief resume of' the growth of the Tent, pointing out that since its institution in 1875, th-.ir had been initiated 3C6 members. During that period the sum of £1,483 had! been paid to members for six pay, whilst tho funds of the Tent were now up to £1072. The musical programme was of a high order of merit, and was contributed by Mrs Pikett, Misses Nixon, Loeseh, and Sole, Messrs Jenkinson, Qlark, Jackson, and Cooper, the accompaniments being played by Miss Cole and Mr Golding. Miss Cole and Mr Stoke recited well.
