OPUNAKE HARBOR.

PUBLIC MEETING.

I At a largely attended meeting held m tho Opunake Town Hall on Monday afternoon for the purpose of receiving the oommittee's report on the proposed harbor district, tho Chairman (Mr W. C. Dudley) read the following report, which was adopted 1. That a bill for the purpose bo presented to Parliament this coming session.

2. That the harbor district shall comprise the wholo of the Opunake survey district and so much of tho Oeo survey district as lies wost of the Oeo river.

3. That the district be divided into three wards, viz: Northern, central and eastern.

4. That the board consist of seven members ; two for northern, three central and two eastern. No elector to have more than one vote for any one riding, , 5. That tho. board shall acquire the jetty from tho Wharf Co. and nay therefor £1864 (being amount of paid up capital of the company) and in addition take over tho bank liability. That the board may issue debentures to the Wharf Coy. for amount, boaring interest at 4 per cent, having a currency of 7 years, such debentures not ta bear interest for two years from date of issue, and the board to have the right to redcom debentures at anv time.

6. To include in endowments tho forcshoro botween Waiaua and Otahi rivers, and all available Crown land with town district area.

7. That the board have power to borrow on its ondownient and rcvenuo, at not moro than 6 per cent. 8. That it be provided the district shall be exempt from any further rating for New Plymouth, should any further borrowing than for present loan conversion bo given offoct to.
