PEE PRESS ASSOCIATION. Paiiiatua, May 30. The Wellington Provincial Confer, ■■nee of tlio New Zealand Farmers' Union mot ut 9.80 this morning. The Treasurer's and Provihoial Organiser's reports were taken in conmittee and idopted. Mr Cooper nominated Mr J. tr. Wilson for the position of President ind Mr Mooro seconded the motion .ind in doing so said the two greatest •nen in New- Zealand were the Premier and Mr Wilson, who was elected amidst loud applause. Mr Cooper was elected vice-president. The Executive Committee was elected as follows: West Coast: Peal, Wanganui; Richards, Te Horo; Guthrie, Rangiwahia; Capt Hewitt, Palmerston North; Birch, Marton; Newman,- Martonj McLennan, Waituna West; Wilson, Bulls; Stubs, Palmerston North. East Coa3t; Perry, Masterton j Smith, Pahiatua; Bidwill, Featherston; McFarlane, Konini; Neivens, Te Nui; Mathieson, Eketahuua; Cooper, Ihuraura Valley.

The following resolutions were carried: That the Government be asked to grant assisted immigration to femile domestic sorvants of good character, and of white nationality; That the Government be asked to ( make no appointment as Stock In. sectors except where candidates hue passed such examination in veterinary subjects as Mr Gilruth recoirfmended; That tho mortgage, indemnity tax is irritating and unnecessary, and the Government be asked to amend tho law so that those who insure their workers onoe against accidents aro not compelled to pay double tax; That the question of accident insurance bo referred, with the mortgage and indemnity tax, to a sub-committee appointod to deal with such matters, which will make recommendations concerning the subject submitted to it; That the branches be recommended to keep a list of and produce for sale; That the Conforenje bring pressure to bear upon the' Government that Hospital and Charitable Aid votes be made more equitable throughout the colony; That p iblic recognition of our dependence on Almighty Gol for the successful results from our labors is essential to the sucooss of the Farmers' UnioaThat the Conference urge the direotors of tho Farmers' Union Mutual Insnrince Company to raise the limit of risks; That the Mutual Insurance Companies of the North Island should combine and work from one centre; That the law be so amended that whore flood causes a wash-out, the said works are not to bo higher than the bank whioh was washed away, without running the risk of law action for doing so; That the Goyernment be urged to take action to have thsir lands prevented from being washed away by rivers. Messrs Coopsr, MeLenuan and Peat were elented to reprosent Wellington province at tho annual Colonial Conferonce. The Conference closed to-night.
