THE "APOSTLE" DOWIE.
DENOUNCED BY MELBOURNE ZIONISTS. Melbourne, May 28. A meeting was held in Zion Hall last night. The Rev. J. S. McCullagh moved the following resolution: "Whereas John Alexander Dowie, of Zion City, has been found guilty of the violation of every on* of the Ten Commandments, and whereas the overseers of Zion City found him guilty of hypocrisy, criminal extravagance, embezriement, misrepresentation, tyranny, dastardly contempt for the sufferings of those he pauperised, aud of a blasphemous claim to divine authority to cloak his villainies, therefore it is resolved that we, members of the Christian Catholic Apostolic Church of Zion in Melbourne, renounce bJB leadership for ever, and disassociate ourselves absolutelyjrom his personal or his delegated authority} further, that we support Mr McCallagh in laying these facts before the people of Australasia, aud that we will further support him in his attempt to secure, for Australasian investors in Zion City their just dues."
Deaoon Smith rose, and tried to speak. He was a supporter of Dowie, but McCallagh declined to hear him. There was considerable uproar, and the choir suddenly rose and sang the Poiology.
The proceedings ended by the motion being declared carried.
