INTERNATIONAL DIBARMAMENT. London, May 27. Lord Avebury asked in the House of Lords if steps hod been taken to realise the Premier's views in regard to international disarmament. TJi* Marquis of Ripon (Lord Privy Seal) stated that the Government would do nothing to weaken the Empire. It was intended to discuss the question of disarmament if a favorable opportunity arose. Lord Lansdowne (late Foreign Secretary)! in a .weighty speech, said that Britain must think twice before undertaking any general disarmament, and helobjeoted to any binding compact. The navy was so essential to the country's life that it must guard freedom of action, i , ; A WARNING TO LABOR. London, May 28. The Right Hon. John Burns (President of the Local Government Board), speaking at the National Liberal Club, deprecated the tendency of Labour to isolate itseK from all except manual labourers. He predicted that, they would regret the folly of thus inflioting on themselves a disability in the promotion of their own advancement.
