URENUI.

(From Our Otvii Correspondent). Miss Huteheson, who for the past ten months has been assistant in the Urenui school, and has made herself a general favourite, was on Friday evening the guest of a committee of ladies (Mesdamcs Pascoe (2), F. Rowe, Skelton and Waite). Over 100 guests were present in tho Town Hall, to honour the occasion of Miss Hutehcson's 21st birthday. Mr Crossman was M.C., and at intervals between the dances, songs were given by Mrs J. Pascoe, Miss Wilson, and by members of the *' Lily Minstrel Troupe." A localised song, " Toll Gates," by Mr Frank Riley came J considerable fun. Recitations were given by Miss Huteheson (encored) and by Mr John Matheson.

The dance music was supplied by Miss McKenzie, who was assisted by Mr Geo. Pascoe (violin). Prior to supper, Mr Pope, on behalf of the parents of the junior pupils, presented Miss Huteheson with a silver mounted brush and comb.

Mr Huteheson (Hawera) responded on his daughter's behalf, and in a neat little speech, heartily thanked the Urenui people for their kindly appre elation and their handsome birthday gift. Miss Huteheson was Ihe recipient of many other presents, not the least esteemed of which was Mr Waite's " Birthday cake." On Saturday afternoon the whole or the pupils attending the school were invited to tho Town Hall. Some 120 children rospondod, and they will no doubt long remember the happy time they had when Miss Huteheson attained her majority.
