VISITING JAPANESE SQUADRON.
ENTHUSIASTIC WELCOME TO SYDNEY. Eeceivcd 21, 11.10 p.nj. Stiwbt, May 21. The Japanese squadron received a demonstrative wolcome on arriving from Melbourne. They were greeted with salutes from the forts and warships, the Japanese vessels replying. Shipping and many buildings were lavishly decorated with bunting. During the day the visitors were kept busy paying and receiving official calls, and to-night the squadron and other shipping, and some of the public build, ings are brilliantly illuminated, with splendid spectacular effect, la spite of heavy rain great crowds an viewing the illuminations. Many social functions have been arranged in honor of the visitors.
