SCHOOL COMMISSIONERS.

The monthly meeting of the Taraualti School Commissioners was held on Friday in tho oflice of the Secretary, Mr P. P. Corkill. There were present: Messrs J. Wade (chairman), Faull, ■Simpson, W, T. Jennings, M.H.R., and C. E. Major, M.H.R.

The special resolution, dealing with tho leases of Messrs C. Carter and W. Sheffield, were confirmed without alteration.

The Board's solicitor, Mr 0. Samuel, reported on tho progress of the negotiations with the Defence Department with reference to compensation for the reserve 138, Hua District, taken for a rifle range.

The New Plymouth Borough Council wrote acquiring the eight sections belonging to tlio Commissioners, in terms of the Board's offer. (This refers to the land required for the oxtension of the Western Park sports ground.) The Board decided to reduce the amount of cash rcquirod from the Council by £2O, muking it £3OO. The Auditor-Goneral forwarded the Board's balance-sheet for the year 19J5, duly audited and certified. Tho Board's solicitor forwarded the completed register of reserves and leases, upon tho compilation of which ho has been engaged for many months past.

On the motion of Mr Major, seconded by the Chairman, the Commissioned resolved: " That this Board tenders to its solicitor (Air Samuel) its thanks and high appreciation of the work carried out by him in the compilation and preparation in book form of a rogister and record of the whole of the Board's property. The Board further desires to place on record in its minutes its recognition of the fact that the charge made by Mr Samuel for this important work is quite a nominal one."

The Board's solicitor reported on the application of F. Schwardtfeger for a renewal lease, and this will bo granted, subject to tho conditions recommended by the solicitor. Mr G. A. Marchant, the Board's ranger, was appointed the Board's arbitrator in the matter of the loase of Section 59, Hua and Waiwakaiho S.D., held by Mr E. Prico. The same arbitrator win appointed in the matter of tho application by Jeremiah Korrisk a renewal of lease of sub A., Kakaramea Town Belt.

The Board al'P rovc< l the conditions of sale and agrc emen t' f°r lease of part Section 25, Hua all( l Waiwakaiho S.D., hitherto in tho occupation of Mr C. T. llundlo, and the chairman was authorised to deal with the reserve.

The Board appointod Mr Marchant as arbitrator in the matter of applications of renewals of leases by Messrs T. Mitchell, E. Gilshnan, N. C. Young, Mrs Jane Dew and Mrs Mary Large. The Boarll also considered the ease of the widow of tho late Edward Dayison, lessee of sub. 1 of Section 22, Block XV., Kaupokonui S.D., and the course suggested by the Board's solicitor was adopted. The Mangorei Dairy Company applied for permission to remove tho Kent road creamery from the present site on tho lease held by Mr David Alexander.

The Commissioners resolved that the matter was one to bo nrrauged between the Mangorei Dairy Company and Mr Alexander, but tho Commissioners as freeholders would offer no objection to the removal.

The treasurer reported a credit balance of £6lB 7s lOd.

The following applications fop transfers of leases were granted: N. K. MaeDiarmid to Bertie Jas. Clark, Sections 16834, New Plymouth ; Thos.L. Oliver to Thos. Wright, Section, Block IX, |Upper Waitara. Mrs Eleanor Fraser was granted permission to convert her leaso of Section 16-13 etc.. New Plymouth. Accounts amounting to £36 5s were passed for payment.
