I'lie chairman, in moving the adoption of the balance-sheet, mentioned that although the summer meeting resulted in L 497 profit, the autumn meeting, from i>. variety of causes showed a debit of L 753. The date clashed with Avondale—preventing the attendance of Auckland horses—and Masterton, at which meeting Wellington owners preferred to compete. Some members held the " advanced" idea that the club was going to ruin. He did not look at it in sueh a serious light, considering it more unfortunate than anything elso. The committee would have to choose a more suitable date for the autumn meeting. The balance-sheet was adopted. The secretary was appointed a member of the committee, ex officio. Colonel Ellis moved, and Mr P. Watjon seconded, that the annual meeting be held in July.—Carried. The election of officers was taken, but as no one could be found willing to take the position of president, matters reached a deadlock. The names of Messrs Newton King, 0. Samuel, Captain Mace, and Colonel Ellis were suggested.
After discussion the motion was carried.
