TARANAKI fiUGBY UNION. A meeting of the management committee of the Taranaki Rugby Union was held at Stratford on Monday to enquire into alleged misbehaviour in Stratford, and in the train, on the occasion of the recent Tukapn-Stratford match. The Tukapa Club wrote that

tho members of the team were not responsible for any misbehaviour in (iin hotel or on the train. Any misconduct in the hotel was on the part of an outsider, and a member of the club had been expelled on account of what occurred on the train. The member of the Star Club implicated was present, and stated he had only been entertaining tho ulayers with a lecture on electricity, and singing songs, the others joining in the chorus. Mr Stohr said the two men cited behaved

like mudmen all the way to New Plymouth, and bad language was used. With reference to the alleged misconduct in the Stratford Hole), the licensee said he saw one man throw bread from one end of the room to the other. He had been told the offender was a member of the Tutapa team. The enquiry was ultimately adjourned to enable further information to bo obtained.

The Tukapa Club protested against Ihe Stratford-Tuknpa match on May 3rd being awarded to Stratford on the ground thut the Club played a man (Osborne) not residing in the district. No evidence was offered in support of the protest. Mr Humphries moved that the protest be referred back to the Tukapa Club for evidence; if uo evidence be forthcoming the deposit to be forfeited.

The resolution was carried. It was resolved that the Secretary inform all Clubs that protests sent in without evidence to support them will be dismissed and the deposits forfeited.

The Clifton Club, desiring to know if they could play Abbott on Thursday, were informed (hat if they were satisfied Abbott was not a member of the Inglcwood Club, and joined the Clifton Club not later than 3 p.m. on Thursday, May 3rd,'he was eligible to play for them.

Communications were received from the North Otago sub-Union and from the South Canterbury Union offering to play a match with the Taranaki touring team.
