EVIDENCE OF COLOXIAL .BEBBESENTATIVES. PROHIBITION OP ALL BLENDING ADVOCATED. Received 13, 5.3 a.m. Losdos, May 12. Mr Taverner, Victorian Agentgiving evidence before the Butter Committee advocated the stoppage . of all manipulation, marking, ~\ jnilE blending, or addition of foreign fate. He would make it a serious offenco, punishable by imprisonment •" the second time; He advocated the prohibition of blending Colonial with • pure English or Irish butter. Although he was aware that the largest ._ proportion of Victorian butter was now aold to blenders, Victorians would : , prefer that the butter was sold honestly fof" what it "was. He would like to see all butters in retail shops marked \nti the country of origin. Mr Cameron, New Zealand Produce Commissioner, testified that his GoTernment advocated the prohibition of blettding." He did not fear that trade would decline if blending were stopped.
