The most representative national >. , conference of religious denominations ever held, resolved to concentrate in j ■ efforts to secure the better observance of Sunday. King Edward authorised the Arch- ' bishop of Canterbury, who presided, to "express his sympathy and interest in the efforts, and his earnest desire ! . for their success. The speakers included the Bishop of London, Lord Kinaird, Mr Will Crooks (a Commoner), Bishop Johnstone, representing Archbishop Bourne (Soman Catho--1 "'lie Archbishop of Canterbury), while the Duke of Norfolk represented the Catholic laity.
