ACCIDENTS AND FATALITIES.
PES PBESS ASSOCIATION. Chkistchcbch, May 7. The police have received a message from Methven stating that the head shepherd on tho Mesopotamia station, named Ernost Oscar Charles Gilman, was killed by slipping and falling on the frozen surface of a steep spur on tho station on the 4th inst., wliei mustering. Whon tho other shepherds got down off tho hills with their sheep Gilman was missing, and a search party whs at once organised. The body of deceased was found at 1 a.m. on the sth inst., with tho dogs guardiug it. It is presumod that he was killed instantaneously by the fall. The ground is treacherous, the covering of snow having been frozen by the severe frosts. If the river is at all fordahle ,■ the body will arrive at Mt. Somors at 3 j p.m. to-day.
