ARBITRATION COURT.
IST PBESS ASSOCIATION. Gißbohne, May 3. At the Arbitration Court it was agreed to amend the Painters' award to enable work to started at 7.45 a.m., allowing three-quarters of an hour for lunch on five days, and ceasing work at 12.15 on Saturdays.
In connection with the Saddlers' dispute, it was stated that both sides agreed to having the half-holiday on Thursday instead of Saturday as in Auckland. .
Decision was reserved in an interesting claim for wages during incapacity. The claimant, J. T. Glover, was a draper's assistant who had been employed by Miss Neill, and being handy with tools had done little bits of carpentering about the shop. "When removing a wooden measure from the counter with a chisel, a splinter struck him in tho eye, rendering it practically -useless. For tire defence it was stated that the measure should havo been unscrewed and not chiselled, that claimant was uot employed to do such work and that he should not have removed the measure without authority.
