TATARAIMAKA.
(From Our Own Correspondent). A hurricane was experienced here last Sunday. The wind blow away two houses belonging to the encampment. The remainder are being shifted by the owners, for fear they should be blown away also. The Petone road metalling is closed. The crusher has not come to light on account of the weather being too wet. I visited the wreok tho other day Four drays and two waggons were on the job carrying the timber from the vessel to a point out of reach of the water. The crew of the wrecked Warrior consisted of an Irishman, a Scotchman, a Dutchman, and two Norwegians. Rule Britannia! Everyone within reasonable distance turned out of their homes last Monday night to elect a new school committee, and also a choir. The election of a committee resulted as follows:—Messrs Hodson, Maurice, Penwarden and Wharam. The first choir practice will be held next Friday wcok, at 7 o'clock. A tyre of a wheel on one of Mr Roebuck's waggons was broken last night, just this side of Oakura. The accident is no wonder, considering the state the Tapuae hill is in at present.
