ATHLETICS.
TARANAKI A. AND C. ASSOCIATION. A meeting of the Turanaki Athletic and Caledonian Association was held at Stratford on Tuesday, Mr R. 11. Ktve-U presiding. An appeal was considered from R. Gibson, a competitor at the Star sports, re alloj-'d jostling in the mile event, and was left in abeyance pending the receipt of further information from the umpire, Mr .1. H. Hempton. 2JAn appeal from A. N. Morey against the decision of the itaUolu Athletic Club in disqualifying him for inconsistent running was read, but as ho had not forwarded the prescribed protest fee, his protest was declared informal. The 'disqualification For the race was upheld. Mr If. Spurdlo, of Wailara, was elected to the vacancy caused by Ihe retirement of Mr Gibbs, of Inglewood.
Mr J. Clarke (Star Club) moved to resi'iudtheprevious resolution awarding Is. Brewer the prize money in the hurdle race at the North 'Taranaki Caledonian sports at Waitar.i. He gave a< his reason for so doing ihat the two members of the executive who saw tlic race had voted to uphold the- Society in its action ot declaring the race void, and the motion overruling the Society was carried by those who were not present at the sports.
