WRECK OF THE WARRIOR.
MAGISTERIAL ENQUIRY. The magisterial enquiry into the wreck of the Warrior was held in (lie Courthouse, New Plymouth, on Thursday. The Collector of Customs (Mr J. H. Hempton) conducted the case on behalf of the Department, and Mr J. 11. Quilham appeared for the captain, C. Anderson. The court consisted of Mr T. Hutchison, S.M., and Captain Hood, assessor. Captain Anderson was calicd, and related the circumstances loading up to the wreck. He was on deck from the time of leaving the breakwater until the vessel struck. On the quoslbu of soundings his evidence was somewhat conflicting. The mate, J. Anderson, was also called. He was on deck from the time of wearing the ship. His evidence generally supported that of the captain. W. Smith, A.8., also gave evidence. The decision of the Court will probably be given on Friday morning.
