ACCIDENTS AND FATALITIES.
FEB PJIKSS ASSOCIATION. Auckland, April 23. John Madill, aged 41 yours, was found dead in a drain at Tuakau with his throat out and razor beside the body on Saturday. It is supposed deceased committed suicide. Madill resided at Mercury Biy and wai on a visit to his uncb at Tuakau. He left the latter's place abruptly early on Siturday morning. Gore, April 23. The body of Joseph Bourgeois, who wai drowned off the W <ik:ika dredge on Saturday, was recovered od Sunday. At the inquest, the evidence showed that deceased and his mate were haul'ng themselves ashore in a punt, by the bowline of the dredge. The bow of the punt dipped under and shipped some water. The men lost their heads and jumped overboard. A vorJct of accidentally drowned, no blame attachable to anyone, was returned. Blenueiu, April 23. Jonathan Lawrence, aged twelve years, son of a local builder, was accidentally shot at Flaxbourne yesterday, while out shooting with some other boys. The police have gone out to holp an inquest. Wellington, April 23. During the voyage of tbe lonic from London, Mrs Jane Potter, aged 76, died from heart failure. Deceased was a widow and resided at the Bluff. This morning on board the steamer, Lister H. Bachelor, a second saloon passenger, was found drowned in a bath. He was recently invalided from the Army and was coming to New Zealand to settle on the land.
John Prestige, aged 63, died in the hospital to-night from wounds allegedly inflicted by Thomas Gooder on the night of April sth.
