VALEDICTORY.

Mr V. Griffiths, who has been ongaged in Mr Frank Messenger's office for some time past, has received an appointment as draughtsman in the Public Works Department at Welling, ton, and leaves by the cypress train this morning to take up his duties. He was entertained last night at a social in the Whiteloy Hall, tendered by the Bible class, Sunday School teacher?, and the choir combined, Several speeches were made, mentioning in highly appreciative terms the very ardent and sincere manner in wbich Mr Griffiths luid iissisfcd in every department of the church ivork. Mr C, Curtor, circuit steward, spoke on behalf of the church, Mr A. A. Pikett, superintendent, for the Sunday School, and Mr Dawson for tho Bible ; class, whilst a letter was read from the choir. The remarks also bore'testimony to Mr Griffiths', success iu his

profession hero, and expressed pleasure at his promotion. On behalf of the workers above mentioned, Itev. T. G. Brooke presented hiin with a gold fountain pen, and a pair of gold sleeve links. Songs were contributed by Mrs Pikett, Misses Douglas, It. Okey, and M. Black, and a cornet solo by Mr C. H. Lawn.
