THE 'FRISCO DISASTER TIDAL WAVE.
TO THE EDITOK. Sin,—l note in your issue of yesterday's date tbat a gentleman, who has crossed the I'aeilic several times, has expressed an opinion that " there are too many Islands between Auckland and 'Frisco for anything like a tidal wave to reach Auckland (New Zealand," I now ask: Ars there more Islands 110 M' than there were in '6B (I think), when the earthquake at Iquiquc sent a wave across to New Zealand ? [ rode from I tokitika to Greymouth on the date predicted for its arrival, and the ocean and inland lugoons were one sheet of water at high tide, while my horse was up to the girth. "What effect this may have had on the subsequent flood I know not, but my house at the ltuahinc Spit was washed out to sea. I do not wish to bo an alarmist, but forewarned is forearmed.—l am, etc., A. Visitob.
