OYER A THOUSAND INJURED. THOUSANDS OF SURVIVORS IN THE PARKS. GHOULS AT WORK. CENTRE OF DISTURBANCE AT SEA. Received 19,10.20 j).m. London, April 19. Information is fragmentary owiug to the burning of the telegraph and newspaper offices. So far as can be estimated, iu San Francisco alone, fifteen hundred persons perished and one thousand were injured. The entire business portion of tho city is a mass of ruins. Ihe latest information available shows that immense fires are sweeping through the city unchecked. Thousands of inhabitants are homeless, and are. huddling together in terror-stricken groups in the Parks and Public Squares. Thievos have already commenced to
plunder, and cavalry and infantry patrol the streots, instructed to shoot thieves on sight.
Tho moment of llie greater disturbance was eighteen minutes past fire yesttrday morning. The tremor was sufficient to cause the seismograph pendulum to swing for nine minutes across the entiro width of the photographic roll. It is believed the originating oentre of the disturbance was out at sea.
