BEWLEY ANI) GRIFIITIIS' REPORT. Bewley and Griffiths, dairy produce exporters, New Plymouth, are in receipt of the following market report from their London principals, Messrs Mills and Sparrow, dated March 16th, 1906: — Butter. —Again wc- have to report an unsatisfactory market. Thei'e is a faildemand all the time for choicest <|uality, but prices of secondary, thoughlow, do not tempt buyer*, Danish: JNo change; market stoady for best dairies.
French: Although shipments are very light, supply and demand keep just about level. American: The keen edge has goii? off the demand in the past few days, and buyers are selling out pretty closely before taking any more stock. Australian j Thp general opinion lias been that.at present pr/ces there would be a brisk demand, but such is-un-fortunately not the case, and, with the exception of a few pet brands and unsalted, we have experienced a dull, dragging market. Even best butters, u hu.li are absurdly cheap in comparison with Danish and French, are lower ii. price, and it is difficult lo assign the reason for this position. Secondary grades and anything just under finest are most difficult of: sale, and are accumulating all the time. New Zealand : The Tongai'iro's buti tcrs have not cleared up quite so freely and well as WP anticipated, and there is a drop of about 1» per cwt. cu the week. There is nothing in the statistical position lo warrant a drop on finest butters.
Cheese: Good steady consumptive demand all the time at fuM prices. IiI'OTATIONS.
