TRAINS DERAILED.
FEB FBESS ASSOCIATION. Ekktaiiuna, April 17. The mail train from Wellington at I p.m. yesterday was partly derailed while coming into the station. The front engine left the main lino and got on a side track, the points of which were unlocked, then went off the line, but a truck between the first engine and the second engine remained on the line. Two passenger cars were derailed. The train travelled 500 yards before it was brought to a standstill. There were about 400 passengers aboard, some of whom receive! a great fright. Tho train was behind time and was running into the station at twelve miles an hour. The engines appear to be undamaged. One took the train on, and the other was got on the line this morning. The permanent way is but little injured. All trains ire running two hours later. A porter has been suspended, and an enquiry will be held.
Goue, April 17. The special train from Invercargill, leaving Gore for Dnnedin at midnight, was derailed while the engine was going for water. No damage was dono beyond a three hours delay.
