NEW PLYMOUTH FIRE BRIGADE.

ANNUAL MEETING

The annual meeting of the NewPlymouth Five Brigade was held at the station on Tuesday evening, Captain Fred Bellringer presiding. The statements of accounts showed receipts, including £lO credit balance brought forward, £250, and expenses £2lO.

The annual report of the Superinteudant, Captain Bellringer, stated that in 27 musters, the average attendance had been 21 out of a membership of 25. The question of finance had given the executive some concern, but rigid economy had kept the brigade in credit. The borough gravitation water scheme introduced during the year gave a pressure of 1251bs to 1351b5, and this must materially assist the brigade in coping with fires. Only three minor fires had been reported. The report and balance-sheet were adopted.

Tho following officers were elected i Lieutenant Boon; central ward foreman, J. Roberts; west ward foreman, J. Johnson; east ward foreman, J. Clark; ladder foreman, T. Partington; secretary, T. R. Ford; treasurer, Captain Bellringer; executive, G. Tempero and W. Sadler; central oustodian, J. Way, all being re-elected. East custodian, Fireman Lambert; auditors, Fireman H. Ford and F. Moverley. At tho conclusion of tho business meeting, tho members held a social, entertaining several members of the Fitzroy Brigade. Songs were contributed by Firemen Moon, Matheson, Sturmey, Simpson, Aroa, J. Sadler, and Custodian Way, and a cjrnat solo by Fireman Lamb. Mr J. Davidson gratuitously supplied the piano accompaniments, and lent the instrument for the occasion, his kindness being fully appreciated.
