NURSES FOR THE MASSES.
THE GOVERNMENT PROPOSALS. FEB MESS ASSOCIATION". CuuisTCHUECir, April 11. The Premier this morning discussed with the North Canterbury Hospital Board the Government proposal to pay Board twenty five pounds por annum per head to train nurses. He stated that the desire of the Government was tc place nursing skill at the disposal of all people, and that many more nurses were required. The Board replied that it was al. ready training 16 probationers, and could not provide work for more, bin would be willing to assist the movement if possible.
A home for incurables was mentioned, and the Premier stated that the Board could not draw any line of distinction between curable and incurable eases. Both required treatment and attention, and should receive these from the hospital authorities. If the hospital aceommodation wore not sufficient, then the Government should bo asked to assist in extending the buildings,
