RIFLE SHOOTING.
KAITAKE v. UHENUI. A match took place on Thursday at the local range between the, Kaitake Kilte Club and Urenui. Although rain fell heavily in the iiiorniug the weather was favorable, and a good muster of members and friends assembled. Mr S. M«Guinness was iu command of the visitors, and Captain Julian captained tho home team. The' match was a most interestiig one, and the shooting was excellent. Kaitake had a lead of eleven points aftor the lirst round at 500 yds, but'the visitors proved too many for them at the 600 yds range, gaining 36 points on the home team. The shooting at 200 yds added another point to the visitors, increasing their nujority by one. A most enjoyable afternoon was spent. Tho Kaitake ladies attended, and dispensed afternoon tea. After having satisfied the inner man the proceedings took the form of a smoke concert. A return match will take place on Saturday, the 21st, at r'renui.
