NEW PLYMOUTH BOROUGH COUNCIL.

The Works Committeo met on Thursday wheu there were present:— His Worship the Mayor, Crs. Browno, Brooking, Collis, Ewing, Hutchen, Wilson and Webster. It was decided to recommend to the Couucil :

That no action be taken against the owner of the horse impounded, this being the first time he has had any animal impounded ; That the Borough Engineer remain in charge of the electric light contract until completion; That Miss Kent's resignation as typist bo acccptod, and the Town Clerk be empowered to engage a cadet at £26 per annum;

That Mr Carnegio's letter be referred to His Worship the Mayor, Crs. Collis, Brooking and Ewing to report upon on Monday night. That Mr J. Hodgson be appointod caretaker of the waterworks on the termination of his present engagement at £124 16s per annum; That a committee consisting of Crs. Collis, Ewing and Wilson be appointed a committee to report upon the Conditions of appointment for the borough and sanitary engineer, aud the caretaker of the waterworks i

That the Publie Health Department be informed that the Borough Engineer has been instructed to alter the drainage of the Central Fire Station to eonform with the by-laws of the Borough ; That the question of continuing the street light all night be referred to the Electrical Engineer to report upon. That the Inspector give notice requiring all trees overhanging the footpath to be cut baek where iuterfering with the electric light; That the Borough Engineer be authorised to dispense with brick walls in connection with the alteration to the Tarauaki Club ;

That the Borough Engineer be authorised to call for tenders for 2000 cubic yards of boulders carted, to the crusher site.
