NEW SOUTH WALES RUGBY UNION.. Svdnkv, April 1. At the annual meeting of the Rugby Association, the report showed a debit for the year of £521. The cost of sending a team to New Zealand was fiooo. This, however, is regarded as an asset, because it has guaranteed the visit of a New Zealand < team uoxl year. Mr McMahon, referring to the last visit of the New Zcalanders, said bo believed there were as good footballers here as the New Zealanders if only they put a little mere combination aud viiu . into their play. He hoped the deficiencies would soon be rectified. WELLINGTON DISTRICT . SCHEME, - Wellikoton, April 4. A ditliculty which will have to bo faced at an curly date by those who control football in Wellington, is the shortage of grounds—a matter which was referred to at the annual meeting of the Wellington College Old Boys' Football Club on Satnrday night. Mr D. M'Kcnzie suggested that an effort should be made to obtain the uso of tho old racecourse at the Hutt, and said ho considered that tho club's dolegate to the Rugby Union should gug. gest that somo steps be ta.k.en by the union to approach tlvo Trustees of the Hutt Park with tho object of obtain|ing the old racecourse for the use of footballers. He understood that the racecourse had been left for recreation purposes.
The Rugby Union has abandoned tho idea of a, distnot scheme for the : senior championship. Tho Union has 'decided to approach the City Council in order to get it to provide wore grounds. Dr. Newman Wiw re-elected, president.
