A deputation of merchants and manufacturers urged the' Premier that the State should be represented at tko New Zealand Exhibition.
Mr Kidston said the return in the past from similar expenditures had not been large. When the Government con« sidered the matter they decided not to take any space, as they did not see that the advantageou* would be com. mensurate with the loss incurred. There was nothing to prevent any merchant sending exhibits, but ho could not agree to the Government spending money on tho project.
