MB. DLAKIN'S POLICY SPEECH. Beceivcd 24, 4,50 p.m. Baliauat, March 24, Mr Deakin, Federal Premier, delivered the first part of his policy speech. The situation, he said, was unchanged since 1803. Hon. G. H. Reid was thevictinfof stage fright, and appointed a Tariff Commission lu save his own skin. He was also against one form of Socialism, and favoured another. It was difficult to understand Beid's position. Tho policy of the Government was essentially a policy of protection, and offered an Australian policy for Aus. tralian people.
