The committee expressed the hope I hat the members would make a strenuous effort to gain the championships this season.

The balance-sheet showed a credit balance of £5 12s 4d wilh liabilities •Co 9s Od, the assets amounting to £l9 12s hi. iThe subscription fees amounted to £lB 2s (id.

Richards for the use of ground, and to the retiring olliccrs.

At the Star Football Club's meeting last night it was decided that the management committee must in future contain at least two junior members. This is an excellent idea, as it will ensure new blood bciug broken in to the control of affairs in order to take the place of any oid member who is desirous of dropping out of active work of the club.

" Any member who doesn't pay his club subscription is it professional," said My Clarke at the Star Football Club's meeting. "At least, that is the opinion of outsiders/ 1 " The strongest point in football is working together," "Skinny" Jluinp'.irios opinion. "Don't play for yourselves; always play for those who nu< with you. Jf I have been successful, f owe it to you." Mr A. Humphries, the Star player and Taranaki rep. of many seasons, paid a decided and well-earned compliment to Mr .1. Clarke, the retiring secretary. They all knew how well Mr Clarke had carried out his duties, but very few of Iliem knew what thp secretary's work entailed on the person who was brave enough to undertake it. Owing to the fact that he had accepted the secretaryship of the committee to improve the Recreation Grounds, and that that work promised to take up all his available time, Mr Clarke had decided to resign his position as secretary. He was sure they would go a long way before they found a better. There was no doubt either, that by the time Mr Clarke had finished with t'he Recreation Grounds, they would be famed throughout Australasia,-and his name with it. Mr Humphries coneluded by moving that Mr Clark lie asked to accept an honorarium of two guineas. Mr Clarke thanked Mr Humphries for his kind remarks, .but declined to accept the honorarium.

Mr E. Doekrill must have fell llaltered on Thursday irvout at the hearty endorsement of Mr A. Humphries' remarks liv the large meeting of members of the" Star Football Chili. Mr Humphries had proposed that Mr Doekrill be re-elected President ol the Club, and referred to bis very long anil close connection with it, and the excellent services rendered by him as President for several years past. He mentioned particularly that their President was always ready to attend and preside over auy Club or Committee meeting, and to lend bis assistance at any time.. lie paid a warm tribute of praise, also, to Mrs Doekrill. who always managed to bring out their social finances ou the right sjde. Mr Humphries expressed the hope tlpd it would be many years before the Club lust their services, a sentiment that was endorsed by the meeting in a hearty round of applause.
