"—- —« PBB TBESS ASSOCIATION. Auckland, March 22. A serious accident occurred to-night, whereby a member of the mechanical staff of the Tramway Company, named Thomas Gilbert Boyd, had the base of his skull fractured. He was repairing a broken wire, but had not been long at work before his mate heard him cry out "I'm falling." Next moment he crashed on to tho roadway, headforemost, Medical aid soon arrived, and Boyd was taken to tho hospital. It is thought that Boyd slipped, or that the ladder slid, and that he thus lost his balance. His condition is regarded as very critical.
