The Government has now definitely refused to grant a license, for the use of water nt Hora Hora lo develop . electric power. They propose to commence operations before long at llukn Pulls on ;i generating station for the North Island, and do nut wish for competition from any other power plant. The result of the refusal n. that power from Hiika Palls will cost double what it would at Hora Hora, and which lunkcs it prohibitive for cheap power. The Waibi Co. has, therefore, been forced to abandon its scheme for the treatment of low grade ores.
