At the annual meeting of the Hawera Hockey Club, held ou Friday evening, Mr B. McCarthy, who was recently married, was presented by the members of the Hockey Club and the Cricket Club, with a valuable set of carvers and a very handsome silver dish. Mr and Mrs W. H. McGarry, of Eltham, and Mrs McGuire, of Okaiawa, were passengers for Onehunga on Saturday night, bound for Rotorua on a holiday trip. Hon. W. Hall-Jones, Minister for Public Works, with Mrs and Miss Hall-Jones, passed through New Plymouth on Saturday night, embarking ou the Rarawa for north.
