Miss Powdrell (Taranaki) beat Miss Udy (Auckland! 6—4, ; Mrs Payne (Taranaki) boat Miss Gray (Auckland; 0-4, 7-5 j Miss Hiee (Auckland) beat Miss Thompson (Taranaki) 6—o, 0-2 ; Dickie (Taranaki) beat Grossman (Auckland) 0-1, 0-3; Keith (Auckland) beat Wallace (Taranaki) 8--0, 0-il; Nicholson (Taranaki) beat Patersou (Auckland) (i-0,0-2 ; Miss Udy and Mrs Cooper (Auckland) beat Misses Payne and Thompson (Taranaki) o—2, 0-1; Dickie and Wallace (Taranaki) beat Grossman and Keith (Auckland) 0-1, 15-1; Nicholson and Griffiths (Taranaki) beat Paterson and Upton 0--1, 7-5 ; Griffiths and Miss Payne (Taranaki) beat Upton and Mrs Coopcr|(Aucklaud) 0-8, 7-5, U--7. Owing to the inclemency of the weather in the morning, play did not start till 3 o'clock. The balance of the matches will be played on Monday morning. [Special to Nkws.] Ai'cklash, Morch IS. The weather cleared, and play started at 3 p.m. Th'c courts were rather heavy, but played very well. The results so far show New Plymouth seven wins, three losses. Miss Powdrell beat Miss Udy o—l, 0-2; Mrs Payne beat Miss Gray 0-4, 7-5; Miss Rico beat Miss Thomson 0-O, 0-2; Dickio beat Grossman 0 -1, 0-3; Keith beat Wallace 8-0, 0-3; Nicholson beat Paterson C O 0-2; Miss Udy and Mrs Cooper beat Misses Payne and Thomson 0-2, 0-1; Dickie and Wallace beat Grossman and Keith 0-1, 0-1; Nicholson and Griflifhs beat Paterson and Upton 0-1,7-5; Griffiths and Miss Payne beat Upton and Mrs Cooper 0-8, 7 -5, 9 7.
The other matches will he played on Monday morning excepting Nicholson's combined, as he left on Sunduy. Play was good throughout, and the Auckland lady playors played remarkably well, Miss l'owdrell and Mrs Payne were at their very best in their double against Misses ltice and Gray. Ihe game stood set all and six all at the third set, wheu darkness compelled play to stop. The whole match wilj be played again on Monday. The exhibition of tenuis in this match nas a revelation. Nicholson and Griffiths covered thoinselves with glory by beating the winners of the Auckland Double Championship, Paterson and L ptou. To-night, tho Taranaki visitors are being entertained at a dinner at the Star Hotel.
