ACCIDENTS AND FATALITIES.
FEB PBESS ASSOCIATION. , Auckland, March 15. A fire at Howick destroyed Crawford.s stable, and a groom, named Harry Cunningham, aged 03, was burned to death. The fire had a strong hold in the vicinity where Cunningham slept, but' nothing could be done to save him. The loss in 'busses, harness, aud fodder is ostimalcd at .filOui). The adjoiuiug convent was scorched. Ikvebcabuill, March 15. Kate Kccgan, aged 17, a domestic servant, died at the hospital after a brief illness under circumstances which render an inquest necessary. Invercargiu,, March 15. A horse attached to a New Zealand Express Company's van bolted to-day, aud brought down the end of a verandah, which was tipped through a large window. The driver, E. Chenkctts, sustained concussion of the brain aud has been unconscious for several hours, The doctor considers there is every reason to hope he will recover.
