SCENERY PRESERVATION COMMISSION.

Referring to the Scenery Prescrvatiou Commission, the Premier considers there has been too much delay in dealing with Home reserves which should have been secured, with the result that the Government had been involved hi an additional cost. The Commission had cost the colony £2,51W in fees, travelling expanses, etc., and it was about time to" cut the painter and hand the powers uf the Commission over to ollicers of the Land Department. The Commissioners were still travelling, and he supposed they thought they were going ou for ever, but they had made a mistake. The Conimnsion comprised good men, but there had been too much delay.
