THE SEPTIC TANK.
At Monday night's meeting of the New Plymouth Borough Council, the ollowing petition was received " We, the undersigned residents in Jurrie-street, wish to cull your itumeliate attention, to the very offensive imull that exists, arising, we believe, from the septic (auk, or river.— (Signed): Koljert Edwards, Archibald Clark and Sons, J, H. Coclt aud Co., C, Foley, Burgess, Fraser and Co., W, Shellield, F. Aslier, F. Pinson, Webster and McKellar, Collett and Co., H. G. Menzics, ii. A. Nisbet, John Mynoft, S. W. Jury, A. T. Mctiouagle, .1, A, licvcll, Lottgloy P. PepperoU, Railway Goods Office." '1 lie Mayor said he had heard complaints with regard to the septic tank. It was stated that the trap doors were not effective, lie moved that the report, be referred to either the Borough Engineer or the Sanitary Engineer for report. (Jr. Wilson seconded, and said the matter should be dealt with by the Borough Engineer, Or. Monleilh said the engineer should also report on the drainage going into the creek. It was certainly most offensive at present.—Referred to the Borough Engineer to investigate and report.
