ELTHAM NEW SCHOOL SITE.

RESUMPTION of education] RESERVE. _At the Taranaki School Commissioners' meeting on Friday, a letter was received from the Wangunui Education Board with reference to 'the proposal of the Eltham High School Committee to secure n portion of Education Reserve in the centre of the town oil which to erect new public mid technical school buildings. Tlie Hoard made applications for 12 acres out of the reserve which is now held by Mr G. J. Willy oil perpetual lease, and stated that the leasee had agreed to accept £37 IDs per acre for the extinction of his rights in the area desired. Mr Dixon, of Hawera, n member of the Education Hoard, waited on the Commissioners in support of the application.

A lengthy discussion ensued and it was eventually resolved, on the motion of Messrs Major and Jennings, that the Chairman, Solicitor and Secretary be a Committee to consider the application and report to ttie Commissioners there ou.

Committee intend, if negotiations are successfully completed, to utilise a considerable portion of the area for experimental Wining (soil analysis, etc.) and cottage garden purposes.
